When Dell married Bill, she got Kent and Kathi and also their relatives in the deal. When they were visiting Kent and Kathi’s grandfather Melvin Hunter in Canada, friends stopped by and assumed that Dell was Melvin’s daughter, but he told them “No, she’s the one who took her place”. Dell told that story with a certain satisfaction. She was the glue that held together a family with four kids, all from different marriages. I’m lucky to have had her for a mother-in-law and miss her.
